The Indian self patting and their psychology

Citizens of all countries like to pat and praise themselves for the progress their countries make. Such people have always been reasonable and that made such self-patting reasonable. But thanks to the Indians for taking self patting to such new lows that the word has now found a place in the bellicose category rather than in its usual motivational category. The Indian self patting is unique. Consider a child taking up an exam. After writing down two words in the answer column he/she run around the hall jumping up and down, screaming,’ I have done it. Yes.yes.wooo-hooo’ and then continuing from where he/she left off and repeating the sequence for every two words written!!!. This is exactly similar to what Indians have been doing to the smallest of steps their governments have made in the progressive direction. Never mind the fact that they are the most corrupt nation in Asia( If Africa didn’t exist. it could have very well been in the whole world.), a nation where malnutrition levels are far below than those of sub-Saharan countries,whose population is exploding at an unsustainable pace and whose politics is crippled by cronyism and dynastic succession. If the Indians as a society don’t learn to introspect and initiate a process of continuous improvement, instead of irrational self-patting, there may be nothing left to pat about.

Why did communism fail ???

How come an ideology that promised equality for all, a classless and a currency free society fail and fail miserably at that?
It is not hard to imagine that such a utopia in which religion did not hold sway nor  people shared everything never came into existence.
Humans in spite of their evolution so far, haven’t evolved enough to override their primitive instincts. As much as we would like to believe that humans are inherently good, it is far far away from the truth. The humans survived as a species becoz they did stuff which in present day terms we define as evil.

The root of all evil things that we did as a species was the instinct of self survival. As a result we competed with other species like the Neanderthals and the most brutal species prevailed. Once we became the dominant species, we turned to intra species competition. We started doing things which gave us a sense of survival. Predominant among these things were power, wealth and ‘group-ism’. Various groups emerged within the species identifying itself by religion, region,language, color, clan, class and each group interacted with the other with varying degrees of hostility and friendship as the situation demanded.

Communism tried to dislodge these groups and individuals in such groups and form a society based on equality and a guaranteed survival. But alas, the human mind being the frailest of all human parts failed to accept survival of all. It was hard coded to think on self preservation and of group preservation if possible rather than universal preservation.

The sum of all arguments above is very simple. Humans have not evolved enough to apply communism. Probably they never will. This is why communism will fail and will continue to fail till a better more thoughtful and a rational species evolves.

British claims scandal shocks Indian MPs

The recent MP’s claim scandal in Briton has shocked the members of the Indian Parliament. Many MPs expressed their anger against the British system which they said has reduced MPs to such a low state that they have to claim money to  earn under the table. ” This is thoroughly disgusting. MPs should be able to take as much money as they want. What is these claims and other such non sense. I just hope such practices don’t find their way into the Indian system” opined Goonda Raj, a five time MP in India. The fact that the information was leaked has further angered the Indian MPs so much that they are considering passing an unique ‘Whistle Blowers’ Act. The Act, if passed, will give the MPs the right to kill the whitsle blower in the well of the parliament, they said.

 They also demanded the right to information act must not apply to them as they believe they have no information or anything similar to it on anything. “This act was passed by fooling the majority of the MPs. They said its an act to which allows anyone to ask others questions. We thought it was meant for exams of children.” complained one MP.  The Reuters correspondent who was to publish the story has quit journalism altogether. So in public interest this is published in this blog.

THE SAVIOR OF THE EARTH

           George Bush Jr has achieved as a single person what many world leaders have together failed to accomplish :-) . The world today may be amidst wars that it doesn’t need or economic crisis that threatens to rock very foundations of our financial system. But thanks to Mr.Bush and his cronies, people of the world live in a world order that is far less unipolar than it was when Mr.Bush assumed office.Bush has put the larger cause of global political stability over his own nation’s world domination.

            Today USA is forced to talk to North Korea, find a way to reconcile with Iran and get its feet out of Iraq.By embarking on grave economic and military endeavors or should i say mis endeavors,Bush has made sure that US can neither bully nor bribe the other smaller countries.Generations to come will find it hard to believe that such a man was even allowed to set foot in the White House.It is real unfortunate for the world to lose such man from office and certainly a couple of more terms for him as the POTUS would have reversed the existing world order :-) .

ATOI function and compiler memory allocation.

           I was once coding a program to multiply two 99 digits numbers in a night long coding contest.I had to use atoi to convert character to an integer and obtained strange results. Consider the following snippet.

int main()
{
char ch =’9′;
char ch1 =’9′;
int i;
i = atoi(&ch);
printf(“%d”,i);
return 0;
}
output:
99 :(
        Since atoi doesn’t stop till it finds a non numeric character and the memory allocation policy of gcc was such that variables declared are assigned memory in the order which they are declared, the program outputs 99 instead of 9 as many programmers might have wanted from the above code :) .

THE ALCHEMIST : A REVIEW

                           I haven’t read Paul Coehello ’s other books but that doesn’t stop me from thinking low of this one.Its a story about a young shepherd who follows his dream and finds a hell lot of treasure.He travels from Spain to Morocco and crosses the Sahara desert to get to Egypt defying warring tribes.He takes the help of a psychic, the king of Jerusalem and of course a great alchemist and hence the title of the book.

                        Mr.Coehello must know that alchemy is just a medieval fantasy and that existence of a soul for even a human being is still disputed, so forget the wind or the sky having one :) and  i seriously doubt he wasn’t using it as some kind of metaphor.The flow of the story is really good and it entices you to read but if Mr.Coehello was thinking that his books dwells upon some serious philosophy, then someone must tell him that he is out of touch with reality. Well I did like the idea of following one’s heart but i think it would be stupid for anyone to trust the so called signs to make the most important decisions of one’s life.But if you can ignore philosophy or you can believe in such irrationality this book is a nice way to kill a couple of hours.

SPEED 3

                       Speed was his passion.The bike was cruising at more than 100 kmph.He could feel the gutsy wind slapping his face and making him cry.He closed his eyes to avoid further damage to his eyes but still the bike went as fast as it did.He felt he was in a race against all forces of nature and rational thinking.He stood up with his eyes closed to face the extreme wind and prove to it his bravery.

                    It pushed him behind and he fought on.But he couldn’t hold out against the mighty wind for long.The wind was an intelligent enemy it used its enemy’s strength against himself.The more the speed the stronger the wind.Yet he was addicted to speed and would give up anything to hear the sweet buzzing sound of speed.Finally the bike slowed down and came to a still.He heard a voice from the front say,”You have come to your place,dude”.Then he got down from the back seat and wished he knew how to ride a bike.

COMMANDO:SEARCH AND DESTROY

                        He always thought being a commando is the coolest thing any human could do.He simply loved the plethora of weapons and the thrill of various missions.Here he was on a remote island to search for a terrorist leader and decimate him.He had with him enough health capsules and enough ammunition.Any further requirements could be air dropped. This mission will be a piece of cake he said to himself.

                      He followed his GPS and moved closer to his target.He killed a few of those dreaded terrorists who came across him.Finally he spotted his target alone.He ran to get him into his killing range.Just then an army of terrorists surrounded him.Shit!I ran into a trap,he thought.He was looking at all those terrorists and readied himself for the gruesome battle about to begin.Suddenly everything came to a freeze.Ah!No.This stupid windows machine hung again.Cursing it as much as he could,he rebooted the system and continued his game.

THE FUTURE IS WILD

                  Little Freddie was awestruck.He was just like any other kid but one living in the future about 200 yrs from now.He was watching a fantastic documentary of lions,zebras and other wild beasts.He saw the cheetah chase the deer and the lion pouncing on the zebra.He was told zebras have white stripes in a black body.The magnificent tiger came and drank water from a pond.It jumped and danced in the cool waters of the pond.

                Freddie was excited.He had never seen a tiger do all such cool stuff. Then there were baboons which looked funny and glided through the trees.Below the same tree a bird with a sharp teeth was pecking the tree.The crocs were really creeping him out.He thought they were disgusting but was amused by their fake tears.After an hour it was all over.Freddie wished to watch it once more.But he decided to move on since there were a lots of other stuff like real tiger bones to see in the museum of natural history.

Driving up the wall

                             Learning to drive a car in a driving class could be the greatest adventure for some but for me sitting behind when someone else drove proved to be the great adrenalin pumper :-) .People always try new things that are not even remotely a part of the course.Some of these include trying to scare a eight wheeled container truck by directly coming front of it :-) .A few people overly conscious of the lack of parking space even tried to park under an already parked vehicle only to realize that the space under was a little less than they had anticipated :-) .

                            Some greedy ones try to learn driving both the American and the British way, zigzagging their way through the road :-) .We also had the fun of experiencing weightlessness whenever the car came to a screeching halt and the most important of all, we had to pay only for driving.All other fun stuff was free of cost but at the risk of one’s life though :-) .Not willing to be left behind,I provided the guys with some of my own driving adventures for the first few days.Then i decided too much fun was not always good and drove just like those normal guys :-) .
